Rest in Peace, Good Sir.

Alexander McQueen has left the fashion world. The main page of the company website reads as such:

"ON BEHALF OF LEE MCQUEEN'S FAMILY, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TODAY ANNOUNCES THE TRAGIC NEWS THAT LEE MCQUEEN, THE FOUNDER AND DESIGNER OF THE ALEXANDER MCQUEEN BRAND HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME. AT THIS STAGE IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT ON THIS TRAGIC NEWS BEYOND SAYING THAT WE ARE DEVASTATED AND ARE SHARING A SENSE OF SHOCK AND GRIEF WITH LEE'S FAMILY.

LEE'S FAMILY HAS ASKED FOR PRIVACY IN ORDER TO COME TO TERMS WITH THIS TERRIBLE NEWS AND WE HOPE THE MEDIA WILL RESPECT THIS."

Lee was Alexander's legal first name, however he dropped it in favour of his middle name, Alexander, early in life. Truly an inspiration through his dramatic designs, and the collision between art and fashion his runway show's exemplified, he will truly be missed.

While I will not delve into the speculation surrounding his death, I would ask you, the reader, to explore on your own, if you feel so inclined.

Tom Ford has always been known for his ability to mix colour, pattern and texture together to produce elegant yet playful attire. His latest collection is nothing less than spectacular as he pairs wide-lapelled, patterned jackets in wool and velvet with bold buffalo-plaid bow ties and dotted ties to create extraordinary outfits.

What is style?

style:

"a particular, distinctive, or characteristic mode of living"

While there were nearly 20 definitions when I looked up the word, I particularly liked this one because of it's all-encompassing nature. Style is not something that is limited to appearance, actions, literature, fashion or objects. Rather it is the essence of each individual, rooted in our thoughts, rationalizations, heuristics, emotions and conceptualizations. It is the summation of every characteristic, idiosyncratic or not that defines their style.

This blog was created to express my own, highlight others and ultimately celebrate style and all the beauty it injects into our daily lives.
